Ten Date Ideas for a Romantic Valentine's Day

Some years, I begin looking forward to Valentine’s Day the minute Christmas festivities have ended. Other years, Valentine’s Day sneaks up on me last minute. No matter when I start to think about the holiday, I always find myself racking my brain for date ideas. If you're like me you and you're thinking about skipping the traditional Valentine's Day dinner this year for something more intimate and personal then you're in the right place.

Here are some alternative date ideas for the two of you that doesn't require a reservation weeks in advance.

1. Indoor picnic- It is most likely a little chilly where ever you are. Why not build a cozy spot in your home with pillows and candles, cook your favorite dinner together or order from your go-to takeout spot.

2. Game night- Who says you need to plan a date around a meal? Grab your favorite board games, a glass (or two) of wine and smorgasbord for a fun night of entertainment.

3. Breakfast in bed- There is nothing better than spending the morning in bed with your special someone. This idea is great if you can't spend the evening together, instead start the day of with some quality time just the two of you.

4. Cook-off- Put your cooking skills to the test with this date idea. The two of you decide on your meal of choice, then see who can make it better.

5. Hiking date- Grab you tennis shoes and go for a hike off the beaten path or go somewhere with a view. Bring a blanket to sit and enjoy the scenery.

6. Go bowling- Bowling is a great idea, especially in the fall and wintertime. Make it competitive and play against each other or just keep it light and fun and work on your technique.

7. Axe throwing- Nothing says romance like throwing axes right? This idea is for the couple who knows how to have a good time and thinks outside the box. Axe throwing is a newer activity, showing up in numerous cities. Check to see if there is a location near you.

8. Beer or wine tasting- Whether you and your significant other are beer drinkers or prefer wine, find a tasting room that serves your drink of choice. Drink flights are a great way to try multiple flavors at once.

9. Spa treatment- Unwind from the stress of the day by getting pampered together at the spa. Indulge in a couples massage together.

10. Comedy club- Laugh the night away at your local comedy club. Small clubs typically bring in lesser known comedians but don't let this deter you from checking them out. Most comedy clubs bring in new comedians every night of the week meaning there is always a show to catch and laughs to have.

I hope these date ideas have inspired you to try something new this Valentine's Day. Most importantly enjoy this special time with your love one.
